We put a stop to their fight just now.

The bus stop is over there.

1. stop something They stoppped a car and asked how to get to the hospital.

We have stopped our actions because of the accident.

3.stop .from ( doing) sth 阻止……做……The police stopped the car from running ahead because its overspeed.

She is too tired ,she has to stop to have a rest .

They stopped to smoke a cigarette.

He stops to do his homework.

The train will leave the train stop station.

相当于prevent *** （from） doing sth,from可省略。

Do stop the enemy rush here意为一定要阻止敌人冲到这儿。
